Nos Estados Unidos o Halloween é uma tradição vinda de países europeus que conforme os anos se passaram, foi adquirindo formato de festa que conhecemos hoje em dia. Os norte-americanos gostam de enfeitar suas casas e comércios com tais temas, fazem festas junto com suas famílias e amigos e principalmente se fantasiam para sair pelas ruas da cidade.

Gostosuras e Travessuras

Nos Estados Unidos e em outros países com os mesmos costumes é comum ouvir esta frase das crianças. Nesta data geralmente os adultos deixam perto de suas portas sacolas com doces, mas caso isso não aconteça uma travessura é preparada para quem atender a porta. Lá também é comum haver troca de presentes entre os amigos na noite da comemoração.

Abóboras e bruxas

Segundo a lenda de Samhain, a lanterna de abóbora representa a alma dos mortos. Já as bruxas entraram na história na Idade Média quando líderes políticos e religiosos perseguiam pessoas que se denominavam curandeiros e fossem pagãos para serem julgados pela Inquisição .Aos suspeitos dava-se o nome de bruxos e bruxas em seu sentido negativo e quando condenados eram queimados em fogueiras.
