TERRORISTAS – 11 DE SETEMBRO DE 2001

A rede terrorista Al Qaeda precisou de menos de duas horas para furar a segurança do país mais poderoso do mundo, executar um plano cinematográfico e mudar os rumos do século 21.

Na manhã de 11 de setembro de 2001, um grupo de 19 fanáticos islâmicos sequestrou quatro aviões comerciais, derrubou o símbolo da força econômica americana e atingiu a sede do Departamento de Defesa do país. Mas os radicais não queriam apenas causar danos materiais de milhões de dólares. O objetivo deles era espalhar uma ameaça invisível muito maior, de medo, terror e insegurança.

O plano audacioso da Al Qaeda, desenhado pelo milionário saudita Osama bin Laden, começou a ser executado por volta das 8h em Nova York (9h em Brasília), quando o voo 11 da American Airlines partiu de Boston, 14 minutos atrasado, com destino a Los Angeles. Os cinco sequestradores a bordo precisaram de menos de uma hora para tomar o controle da aeronave e lançá-la sobre a Torre Norte do World Trade Center (WTC), em Nova York, a maior cidade dos Estados Unidos.

Nesse mesmo momento, o então presidente americano, George W. Bush, estava em uma escola primária na Flórida, onde participava de um atividade com crianças. Ele foi avisado por um assessor do ataque à segunda torre com uma frase emblemática: “A América está sendo atacada”.

Além do atentado às Torres Gêmeas, outras duas aeronaves estavam nas mãos dos sequestradores e se dirigiam a Washington, capital dos Estados Unidos.

The terrorist network Al Qaeda needed less than two hours to pierce the security of the most powerful country in the world, cinematic and execute a plan to change the course of the 21st century.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, a group of 19 Islamic fanatics hijacked four commercial airliners, overthrew the symbol of American economic strength and hit the headquarters of the Department of Defense in the country. But the radicals would not only cause damage to millions of dollars. Their goal was to spread an invisible threat far greater, fear, terror and insecurity.

The audacious plan of Al Qaeda, designed by Saudi millionaire Osama bin Laden, started running around 8am in New York (9am GMT), when American Airlines Flight 11 departed from Boston, 14 minutes late, with the destination Los Angeles. The five hijackers aboard needed less than an hour to take control of the aircraft and launch it on the North Tower of the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York, the largest city in the United States.

At that same moment, the then U.S. President George W. Bush was in an elementary school in Florida, where he was attending an activity with children. He was told by an aide to the attack on the second tower with an emblematic phrase: "America is under attack."

Besides the attack on the Twin Towers, two other aircraft were in the hands of kidnappers and headed to Washington, the U.S. capital.
