Testimony about the attack of the Twin
Towers:
"I had a meeting at 7:30 am this day,
but the day before, I asked that the meeting be changed to after 9:00. I was
staying at home with friends.
On the
morning of September 11, I was awakened by a friend who called me from Brazil,
asking not got out of the house because something serious was happening. I
called the others, went on television and think that an accident had happened
hideous, but once we saw the second plane hitting, we were absolutely sure that
it was an attack.
Perplexed
...
How many
planes were attacking at that moment, I thought? Televisions come to speak up
to 70 planes.
We ran to
buy water and food and went home.
I thought
about leaving Manhattan, but the bridges were closed and no-one went left.
Was heard
rumors that the waters were poisoned.
It was a
shock too strong, impossible to translate into words.
The next
day we left on Columbus Ave and there was not a single car or anyone walking
the streets.
We feel a
very strong sweet smell, of burning bodies ... We went home, you could not be
on the street.
During the
next three days we tried to leave the island without success.
On the
fourth day, I managed to get out of Manhattan and catch a plane back to Brazil
for JAL.
In the same
year, in December, I had a meeting in NY. I arrived, went to the meeting and
returned at night to Rio
I work a
few times in these 10 years and always returned soon.
Only last
year I came back to NY without a job, for my sister's birthday. "

Ficamos perplexos…
Quantos aviões estariam atacando naquele momento, pensei? As
televisões chegaram a falar em até 70 aviões.
Saímos correndo para comprar água e comida e voltamos para
casa.
Fui pouquíssimas vezes a trabalho nestes 10 anos e sempre
voltava logo.
